Boys played well at Chakh Le

“Cooking is like love. It should be entered into with abandon or not at all.
                                                                                                                             – Harriet van Horne

Kondapur is currently the hub of small eateries serving regional food of India. Since, the area is currently inhabited by young working professionals and students, who recently moved from their hometown, the emotional connect works well.

Chakh Le, which recently started their business in the lane beside Siddique Kabab Center in Kondapur is a 4-6 seater restaurant serving mostly online through Swiggy, Zomato, Foodpanda & UberEats. The first impression as you look at the place would not give much hope until you walk in and talk to the boys who are managing the place.

A warm cordial welcome is always something which gives the feeling of eating at home. Promptly I was shared the menu, which to my surprise had loads to offer, primarily North Indian & Chinese dishes. I didn’t want to mess it up first time hence requested them suggestions to order.

They asked me to try their specials which were Bread Idli, Litti Chokha & the Momos. While we waited for the food, they explained how the place was started out of passion of 4 friends who are/were working as professionals. The waiting time for food is also longer since the they have a small kitchen and everything is prepared fresh. As we talked about this, that & more, the food came to our table.

The Bread Idli, is a homemade recipe which is bread cut in the shape of idli and placed over aloo chokha and topped with dahi & chutney. The best part about this dish was the hung curd used on top (which I understand was made at home). Apparently, if not informed they do look like idli with chutney.

However, the Litti Chokha was the best till date I had in Hyderabad. The filling of the Litti was so well done that every bite was giving the right flavours of spices mixed with Sattu (mixture of roasted grams). The chokha had the distinct mustard flavour, just how it is made at Eastern part of India.

When Alok said I should try their momo, he was very conspicuous. It is rarely seen in this part of the country momo being served with the soup. Though Nepalese & Kathmandu momo are quite prevalent in the city for quite sometime now, they don’t come with the soup. The Chicken Momos were soft and the filling was cooked properly. It was apparent that did not hurriedly pick them out of the steam to serve. Though, it has to be hard right out of the oven or the outer layer might get a little hard.

Since they had lots of kababs in offering, I wanted to check out how they can compete with Siddique Kabab around. So , without a hesitation, I ordered for the Chicken Reshmi Tikka Kabab and they are definitely the ones which will pull me back to the place. Apart from the great quantity the quality of the kebabs were just perfect. Juicy & succulent yet the chicken was neither fibrous and perfectly marinated. Pair is with a glass of Nimbu Soda.

The place is new and if they are consistent, it would be just a matter of time when they would need a bigger place to serve the good food. No wonder they are mobbed by the delivery guys every odd minute throughout the day. I am surely going back for the Litti Chokha & the Kababs. As the legendary Inzi bhai would say, “The boys played well”.

*The visit was by invitation from the business owners. The food & beverages were on the house. However, the review is unbiased and based on the true experience.
